The Easiest Spring Treat I’ve Made All Season!
The idea for this Bunny Bait recipe actually started after my Leprechaun Bait became such a big hit around St. Patrick’s Day. I had so many readers making it for parties and school events that I started thinking about how fun it would be to create seasonal versions.
Easter felt like the perfect excuse.
I started playing around with different cereals and candies until I found the mix that worked best. I wanted lots of crunch, a little sweetness, and something colorful enough to feel festive for spring.
My kids love helping make it, and it has quickly become one of my favorite Easter treats.

Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make homemade Bunny Bait:
- Corn or Rice Chex cereal: Rice is lighter; corn is crunchier and sweeter. Either works!
- Mini pretzels: Use tiny twists or break pretzel sticks in half.
- Cap’n Crunch cereal: Pick the plain kind without berries.
- Honey Nut Cheerios: Regular Cheerios or other oat cereals are great too.
- M&M’s: Any type is fine, but pastel colors are perfect for Spring.
- White chocolate chips: Higher-quality brands like Ghirardelli® melt smoother and help the Bunny Bait taste better.
- Vegetable oil: Helps melt chocolate smoothly and evenly coat the snack mix.

Bunny Bait Tips
- Use a big bowl. A larger bowl makes mixing the chocolate faster and easier.
- Melt chocolate carefully. Microwave slowly, stirring well every 20–25 seconds. The chocolate keeps melting even after it’s out! (More tips here.)
- Mix quickly. White chocolate hardens fast, so toss it with the snack mix right away.
- Try extras. Stick to recipe amounts, but feel free to swap in popcorn or nuts. Add fun Spring sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
- Chill to save time. Need it faster? Pop Bunny Bait in the fridge for 10–20 minutes, then break it apart into small pieces.

I would love to make this, but, 549 calories in 1/2 cup?
The serving size is for 1 serving out of the 8 servings this makes, that will come out to be more than 1/2 cup! Hope this helps!

Do you prefer corn or rice chex?
Either works! I like rice chex best in this mix though probably 🙂
