The Best of Caramel Apples, Without the Mess!

My middle son is obsessed with caramel apples; theyโ€™re his favorite! I love them too, but theyโ€™re a lot of work. Thatโ€™s where these caramel apple cups and my caramel apple bark come in.

They have all the classic flavors, but theyโ€™re super easy to make! And my son? He might love them even more since theyโ€™re so easy to pop in and eat!

With caramel-filled Rolosยฎ, crunchy pretzels, and tart Granny Smith apples, these bites are next-level delicious!

The 3-ingredients in this recipe set out for easy assembly.

Ingredients

Hereโ€™s what youโ€™ll need to make these easy Caramel Apple Bites:

  • Pretzel snaps or twists: Fresh pretzels make all the difference. Both shapes work!
  • Green apple: Firm apples like Granny Smith add a nice tart bite to balance the sweet caramel and chocolate.
  • Rolos: Use fresh Rolos for the best results. If you donโ€™t love chocolate, use a halved Wertherโ€™s soft caramel instead.
Place the pretzels on a sheet pan, and set the Rolos on top of them. Bake until melted, then top with a fresh apple slice to make these caramel apple bites.

Keeping Apples Fresh in Caramel Apple Bites

To stop the apples from turning brown immediately, soak them in salt water.

  • Mix water and salt: Stir ยฝ teaspoon of salt into 1 cup of water.
  • Soak: Let the diced apples sit in the salt water for 5 minutes.
  • Rinse: After soaking, rinse the apples well under water.

Apple and Rolo Pretzel Bites: Tips

  • Apple size: Cut apples the same size for even Caramel Apple Bites.
  • Watch the oven: Chocolate can burn fast, so keep an eye on it.
  • Work quickly: Add the apples right after the pretzels come out before the Rolos have a chance to firm up.
  • Add salt: Sprinkle a little sea salt on top for more flavor.
  • Try toppings: Add chopped nuts or coconut for extra crunch!

Storage

Enjoy these bites the same day theyโ€™re made! Store any leftover diced apple pieces in an airtight container in the fridge, and theyโ€™ll stay fresh for up to a day. You can use them to make more bites later.

  • Place the tray in the fridge for about 10 minutes to set quickly.
Final step! Please let us know how it was by leaving a review.

Recipe Notes

Note 1: If the chocolate crumbles, itโ€™s overcooked. If the apples donโ€™t press in easily, the chocolate isnโ€™t soft enough. Start by baking one bite to test your ovenโ€™s timing. Donโ€™t use the convection setting.
Storage: For the best taste, enjoy within a couple of hours!

I love this idea! I will try this with leftover Rolos or PB cups from Halloween. Do you think small homemade truffes would work, too? I mean, if they arenโ€™t prone to melting.

Hmm Iโ€™m not sure truffles would work, I think they might just melt, but if you give it a try let me know! Thanks so much Stephanie! ๐Ÿ™‚
