The Easy 5 Ingredient Smoothie My Kids Beg For!

My boys are convinced this Strawberry Banana Smoothie tastes just like the strawberry milkshake they always order from a local ice cream shop. The first time I made it, they took a sip and immediately said, โ€œWaitโ€ฆ this tastes like the milkshake!โ€ Iโ€™ll take that as the highest compliment.

The best part is itโ€™s made without ice cream or artificial strawberry syrups. I started with my go-to banana smoothie base because itโ€™s incredibly creamy, then blended in sweet strawberries to see what would happen. The result is thick, smooth, and honestly just as satisfying as a milkshake. Now itโ€™s one of the smoothies my kids ask for the most.

How to Make This Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

  1. Freeze the banana: After shopping, peel and slice the banana, then freeze in bags or containers overnight. A frozen banana makes this smoothie great.
  2. Measure: Even though it seems like you can just throw the ingredients in, measure them for the right texture.
  3. Blend: Add all ingredients to a strong blender, and blend until smooth.

Ice In Smoothies?

I donโ€™t use ice in this strawberry banana smoothie recipe because it weakens the flavor. Frozen fruit gives the perfect, milkshake-like thickness without watering it down.

Smoothie Tips

I know, how hard can making a strawberry banana smoothie be, right?! I still have a few tips.

  • Ripe bananas are important for the best smoothie. Freeze them when ripe and use only when fully frozen.
  • If needed, add honey or maple syrup to sweeten. A ripe banana and flavored Greek yogurt usually make it sweet enough, but taste and adjust if needed.
  • Use a good Greek yogurt. My favorite is Greek Godsยฎ honey vanilla yogurt. Go for vanilla or strawberry-flavored yogurt.

Variations

Switch Things Upย

  • To make this Strawberry Banana Smoothie without yogurt, just leave it out.
  • If you want it dairy-free, use apple juice instead of milk. You can also try your favorite dairy-free milk.
  • Donโ€™t like bananas? Use frozen mango instead!
  • To keep you full longer, add chia, hemp, or flax seeds.

Storage

Extra Strawberry Banana Smoothie?

A smoothie lasts about 8-12 hours in the fridge. Store it in an airtight container, filling it to the top to avoid air exposure.

For this Strawberry Banana Smoothie recipe, itโ€™s best to drink it right after making, as it doesnโ€™t store well.
