Pasta with Peas is a simple one-pot pasta made with tender ditalini, sweet peas, and a creamy Parmesan sauce that comes together quickly with pantry ingredients.
Set the frozen peas out so they can partially thaw. Pull out the milk to get it to room temperature.Combine garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, pepper, and salt in a small bowl and set aside. This recipe cooks quickly, so having everything ready helps.
Add 3 tablespoons of the butter to a nonstick soup pot over medium heat. Once melted, add the seasoning mixture. Stir constantly until the butter begins to foam.
Pour in the chicken broth and milk and stir to combine.
Bring to a boil, then add the ditalini. Return to a gentle boil and cook uncovered for 7 minutes. Run a silicone spatula along the bottom of the pot often to lift any pasta that may be settling. Taste the pasta for doneness before moving on. If needed, cook a little longer just until pasta is al dente. Add a splash more liquid if needed.
Remove the pot from the heat and gradually (one handful at a time) stir in the Parmesan cheese until fully melted. Add the peas, remaining 1 tablespoon butter, and lemon juice.
Cover the pot briefly to allow the butter to melt. Gently stir everything together and serve immediately. If it has thickened too much, add a splash of milk in to thin.
