This Easy Blackberry Basil Pizza is one of my all-time favorites! The combo might sound a little different, but itโ€™s inspired by a local restaurant and is one of the best pizzas Iโ€™ve ever had.

Freshly baked Blackberry Basil Pizza, topped with vibrant fresh basil.

Easy Blackberry Basil Pizza

Blackberry-basil pizza might sound like a strange combo, but itโ€™s hands down my all-time favorite pizza.

I get itโ€”blackberries on pizza seem strange! I had the same reaction when I first saw it on the menu at a local pizza place. But I thought, โ€œDonโ€™t knock it โ€™til you try it,โ€ and after one bite, I was hooked. Since then, I havenโ€™t been able to order anything else!

I loved it so much that I started making it at home, and now my whole family is just as obsessed!

All the ingredients for this recipe are prepped and ready for easy assembly, including the dough, prosciutto, herbs, berries, sauce, cheese, and pistachios.

Ingredients

To make this Easy Blackberry-Basil Pizza, hereโ€™s what youโ€™ll need:

  • Pizza dough: Store-bought is quick, but if you have time, nothing beats this homemade pizza dough recipe!
  • Pizza sauce: Use your favorite; Iโ€™m obsessed with Raoโ€™s!
  • Mozzarella cheese: Thin slices melt better and spread evenly.
  • Prosciutto: Adds a delicious salty richness. Swap with bacon or skip for a vegetarian option.
  • Blackberries: Cut in half if theyโ€™re large. I like to make sure there are plenty of blackberries per pizza slice!
  • Pistachios: Finely chopped for crunch. Skip if youโ€™re not a fan!
  • Parmesan: Optional but adds great flavor as a finishing touch.
  • Olive oil: Drizzle at the end for richness. Good oil means more flavor!
  • Basil: Fresh leaves give a burst of fresh flavorโ€”add right before serving.
All the toppings placed on the pizza and the blackberry basil pizza being baked.

  1. Preheat the Oven: Follow the instructions for your pizza dough.
  2. Shape the Dough: Spread the dough into a 12-inch round pan.

What To Serve With Blackberry Basil Pizza

  1. Caprese Salad: Tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil with balsamic drizzle.

  3. Garden Salad: I love a veggie-packed salad on the side!
A slice of the delicious pizza fresh out of the oven.

  • Oven: Reheat at 350ยฐF for around 7 minutes.
  • Microwave: Quick and easy, though the crust will lose its crispiness.

Equipment

  • Pizza pan 12-inch

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons yellow cornmeal
  • 1 batch pizza dough homemade or store-bought (for a 12-inch round pizza)
  • 3/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese very thinly sliced
  • 3 ounces prosciutto
  • 10 blackberries cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pistachios
  • Parmesan cheese optional
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil leaves

Instructionsย

  • Preheat oven according to your pizza dough instructions. Lightly grease a 12-inch pizza pan with cooking spray and sprinkle cornmeal evenly over the pan, tapping off any excess.
  • Spread pizza dough onto the pan, forming a 12-inch round.
  • Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Top with thin slices of mozzarella, then bunch up and evenly distribute prosciutto and halved blackberries. Sprinkle pistachios over the top, and if desired, grate Parmesan (just eyeball it, a light sprinkle over the entire pizza).
  • Follow pizza dough instructions for the correct baking time.
  • Once pizza is baked, remove it from oven. Drizzle with olive oil and top with fresh basil leaves. Slice and serve immediately.

Recipe Notes

Toppings: Donโ€™t overload the pizza to avoid a soggy crust.
Storage: Best enjoyed fresh. To reheat, use a skillet for a crispy crust or the oven at 350ยฐF for about 7 minutes. The microwave works in a pinch, though the crust wonโ€™t be as crisp.

Since no one else has reviewed this recipe, I just wanted you to know that at least one person has tried it and liked it. I made this for my husband and me for Easter dinner. (We donโ€™t necessarily do โ€œtraditionalโ€ holiday meals like most people. My sons ate a classic pepperoni pizza, BTW.) I think this pizza combination is delicious! I loved everything together. My only worry about this recipe was the โ€œsauce.โ€ It wasnโ€™t pizza sauce with spices/herbs in it; it was just plain crushed tomatoes. BUT, since Walmart had this specific brand of crushed tomatoes that your recipe calls for, I went with it. I donโ€™t know if the can I bought was mis-labeled or what, but they looked more like diced tomatoes than crushed, and it definitely didnโ€™t have that smooth texture (now that Iโ€™m looking through your pics again that are above). Was I supposed to puree it, and simmer it on the stovetop? When I opened the oven, I saw tons of sauce had gotten all over the pan, and I quickly sopped up the tomato juices with paper towels. SO, some of the slices had a very soggy bottom. Other than that, this pizza was delicious! I told a couple of my sisters about this pizza recipe, and they were skeptical about the blackberries, but it all just works! Donโ€™t fear the blackberries!! They pair so well with savory dishes anyway. Great recipe! I would definitely make this pizza again. Thanks!
