Valentine Pretzels are a sweet, salty treat with just three ingredientsโ€”perfect for showing some love! Easy to make and even easier to share!

3-Ingredient Treat

These Rolo Pretzel Turtles and Peppermint Bark Pretzels are always reader favorites during the holiday season.

While I donโ€™t need an excuse to whip up a sweet treat, Iโ€™ll gladly take any opportunity to do so. With V-Day right around the corner, I knew exactly what to doโ€”turn one of these pretzel turtles into a V-Day-themed treat!

They couldnโ€™t be easier or more delicious. Perfect for a fun girls night treat, to make a loved one, or something to make with little ones!

Valentineโ€™s Pretzel Ingredients

  • Pretzels: Use pretzel twists for a heart shape, or snap pretzels. Skip butter-flavored ones.
  • Chocolates: Try Dove chocolate hearts, kisses, Hugs, or Rolos. Mixing kinds adds variety. Kisses and Rolos melt best.
  • M&Mโ€™s: Use Valentineโ€™s M&Mโ€™s or pick out the red ones out of a standard pack.

Valentineโ€™s Pretzel Quick Tips:

  • Line the pans: Use parchment paper or a silicone mat for easy cleanup and to help the candies stick.
  • Watch closely: Donโ€™t over-bake the chocolates, or theyโ€™ll get too melty and hard to work with.
  • Move fast: Press in the M&Mโ€™s while the chocolates are still soft, before they set.
  • Embrace mistakes: Hugs candies may spread unevenly, but theyโ€™ll still taste great! (Lower baking temps or shorter times might not melt the chocolates enough for M&Mโ€™s.)

Variations

Switch Things Up

  • Different chocolate: Try dark chocolate or a mix of milk and dark chocolate for a new flavor.
  • Nuts: Add chopped almonds, pecans, or hazelnuts on top for extra crunch and taste.
  • Sprinkles: Use V-Day sprinkles for fun, colorful Valentineโ€™s Pretzels.
  • White chocolate: Drizzle melted white chocolate on top for a sweet, pretty look.
  • Sea salt: Sprinkle sea salt over the chocolate for a sweet and salty mix.

Storage

What To Do With Leftovers

Store Valentineโ€™s Pretzels in an airtight container at room temp. For longer shelf life, freeze in a sealed container or bag.

Gift โ€˜Em!

  • Mason Jars: Fill, tie with a ribbon, add a tag.
  • Cellophane Bags: Secure with a twist tie or ribbon.
  • Tin Containers: Use decorative tins, line with parchment.
  • Custom Boxes: Fill smallย boxesย with tissue paper and pretzels.

Instructionsย

  • Preheat oven to 250ยฐF and line a large sheet pan or 2 smaller sheet pans with a silicone liner or parchment paper. (Donโ€™t skip lining the pan!)
  • Place the pretzels on the prepared sheet pan and top each pretzel with an unwrapped chocolate. Bake in the preheated oven for 2โ€“4 minutes (see note 3) or until the chocolates are soft but not melted.
  • Once out of the oven, press an M&M on the center of each chocolate-covered pretzel.
  • Allow the pretzels to cool and the chocolate to fully harden before eating. This should take about 1 hour at room temperature, or for faster results, put the tray in the fridge for about 15 minutes. I love eating these straight from the fridge!

Recipe Notes

Note 1: To maintain the heart-shaped theme of this treat, I recommend using pretzel twists. However, snap pretzels are a great alternative. Avoid butter-flavored pretzels as they can detract from the flavor of the chocolate.
Note 2: I use Dove chocolate hearts to keep with the Valentineโ€™s Day theme. Other options include chocolate kisses (any flavor), Hugs candies, or Rolos. You can also combine different types of chocolate to create a platter of visually appealing and delicious treats. (Heads-up: Regular chocolate kisses and Rolos tend to melt better than Hugs, but all are delicious.)
Note 3: If the chocolate is crumbling, it means the oven was too hot or the chocolate was baked too long. If the M&Mโ€™s wonโ€™t press in nicely, the oven was too cool or chocolate wasnโ€™t baked long enough. To ensure proper baking time, bake 1 pretzel with chocolate as a test run before baking the rest so you can gauge the appropriate timing for your specific oven, as ovens can vary. Once youโ€™ve tested it, youโ€™ll know the best timing for the rest! Convection oven settings should not be used for this recipe.
Storage: Store Valentineโ€™s Pretzels in an airtight container at room temp. For longer shelf life, freeze in an airtight container or bag.
