Christmas Mason Jar Sugar Cookiesโ€”with a free printable recipe tagโ€”make the perfect holiday gift!

Mason Jar Sugar Cookies.

Mason Jar Sugar Cookies

This is the final recipe in my Christmas Mason Jar dessert series! Check out the M&M Christmas Cookies, Peppermint Bark Brownie Cookies, and Christmas Brownies I shared earlier this week.

At my house, Christmas isnโ€™t complete without a big batch of decorated sugar cookies! I love keeping this sugar cookie mix on handโ€”and itโ€™s become a favorite for gifting.

With just a few simple ingredients and tools from your local grocery store, you can have the perfect gift for neighbors, friends, or coworkers in no time.

Hereโ€™s What You Need:

Ingredients In Mason Jar Sugar Cookies

  • Sugar Cookie Mix: Choose a mix with 17.5 oz, I like Betty Crocker.
  • All-Purpose Flour: Helps the cookies hold their shape when rolled and cut.
  • Holiday Sprinkles: Use nonpareils or sanding sugar to prevent color bleeding while baking.

Add in Later

  • Unsalted Butter: Let it cool slightly after melting before mixing.
  • Large Egg: Provides structure and binds the ingredients together.
  • Vanilla Extract: Use pure vanilla extract for a richer flavor.

Storage

The dry cookie mix stays fresh for 2 months in a sealed jar. Baked cookies last 3 days at room temp or 2 months in the freezer in a closed container.

  • To make the sprinkle-filled ornament: Use a food safe or cleaned and completely dried clear miniature ornament. Pour the sprinkles on a small paper plate, then use to funnel into the top of the ornament.ย
  • In the mason jar: Dump the entire sugar cookie mix into the jar. No need to compress it. Add in the flour on top.ย Seal the jar, add a ribbon with a miniature whisk (if desired), a miniature cookie cutter (if desired), and a small sprinkle-filled ornament. Attach the free printable recipe attachment (or the following directions).
  • Recipe to attach: Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF. Add the mason jar mix, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until combined. Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface until a soft dough forms. Cut with cookie cutters and place one inch apart on a parchment lined sheet pan. If desired, add sprinkles on top before baking. Bake 5โ€“7 minutes or until edges are light golden. Cool 2 minutes on sheet pan before removing to cooling rack.
